Privacy Policy

Kinrox is a local video player for Mac and a companion remote for iPhone. The apps do not send personal data, playback history or usage analytics to the developer. There are no accounts, advertising SDKs or cloud services in the apps.

Data on your devices

The Mac player stores recent-file bookmarks and preferences on your Mac. The iPhone remote stores a random device identifier, the selected Mac and connection preferences on your iPhone. Pairing credentials are stored in each device’s Keychain. The remote receives playback state and recent-file titles and durations from your Mac. Full file-system paths and video files are not transmitted to the iPhone.

Local network communication

With your permission, Kinrox discovers players using Bonjour and exchanges control commands and playback information over your local network. Paired sessions use encryption. Device and service names are visible during local network discovery; discovery itself is not an encrypted channel. The apps do not use a developer-operated relay server.

Retention and your choices

Pairing credentials remain until you remove them. Use Forget in the iPhone app’s settings to remove that Mac’s saved credentials from the iPhone. Revoke the iPhone in the Mac player’s remote settings to remove its access on the Mac. These are separate actions; forgetting on the iPhone does not revoke the Mac’s record. Recent files can be cleared from the Mac player. You can disable Local Network access in system settings. Keychain entries may survive uninstalling an app, so use the pairing controls before uninstalling if you want to remove saved credentials.

Support and this website

If you choose to contact us through GitHub Issues, the information you submit is handled by GitHub under its privacy policy and may be public. Do not post pairing tokens, private filenames or other sensitive information. This website is hosted on GitHub Pages; the hosting provider may process request information such as IP addresses under GitHub’s Privacy Statement. Kinrox adds no analytics scripts or cookies.
